Under a five-year contract with USAID, EnCompass manages the Global Health Professional and Organizational Development (GHPOD) II program. GHPOD’s role is to provide professional and organizational development support to USAID’s health sector staff around the world to build their capacity to lead and manage health programs. Through the GHPOD mechanism, EnCompass provides a variety of training and learning programs to build capacity in technical areas, program management, leadership, personal and team effectiveness, retreats and strategic meetings, and staff performance management.
The Evaluators’ Institute (TEI) has been a leading provider of evaluation capacity building for more than 20 years. In 2016, EnCompass entered into an agreement with Claremont Graduate University (CGU) to manage TEI operations, including the planning and delivery of TEI programs around the world. TEI offers evaluation professionals training at all levels and all steps of the evaluation process. TEI courses are taught by leaders in the field, with courses offering technical rigor in evaluation methods and practice through participant-centered, adult-learning approaches.
In its aim to end global hunger, the World Food Programme(WFP) is striving to plan and commission independent, credible and useful evaluation evidence across the organization. With this in mind, WFP asked EnCompass to co-design and implement a comprehensive learning programme to build the capacity of all of its staff in evaluation principles and management. The Evaluation Learning Programme (EvalPro) targets all staff with the skills and knowledge they require to engage with or manage evaluations.
The sound of a helicopter chop fills the room. The participants rush to the window of the hotel-meeting-turned-class-room to see who has arrived. They quickly realize it’s just the First Lady of Kenya dropping by to ensure that all is ready for the art exhibition being held at the hotel that evening. This is one of many unexpected and exciting moments that can happen during an overseas delivery of the USAID Programming Foreign Assistance course.

EnCompass worked with Oceana, the largest international advocacy organization focused on ocean conservation, as the DC-based NGO’s learning and development partner. Oceana has offices in North America, Central America, South America, Europe and Asia and experienced enormous growth from 2012-2015. Beginning in 2015, EnCompass was hired to work with Oceana leadership to develop a learning and development framework to guide on-boarding of staff and a full year of development for new staff, with the goal of creating a “One Oceana” culture throughout the growing organization.
