EnCompass supported a key UN organization by facilitating meetings and events and conducting training of trainers. EnCompass facilitators provided design and delivery support to enable successful and effective meetings. The aim of this work was to help groups of staff and stakeholders work together to solve problems, discuss issues, plan and implement activities, build teams, make decisions, and manage change. EnCompass designed and delivered five-day training of trainers workshops for program staff.
EnCompass provides technical assistance and planning services for the International Labor Affairs Bureau (ILAB) as it hosts policy, research, and planning meetings abroad and in the United States. Ranging in size from 40 to 80 participants each, the events are opportunities to share common knowledge, lessons learned, and good practices to support USDOL’s approach to child labor elimination projects. As part of this work, EnCompass developed two reports on inclusive growth through social protection within Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)member nations.
EnCompass designed and delivered a workshop on gender awareness for 30 staff members of a United Nations agency. The workshop focused on increasing awareness of the individual mental models and cultural norms that affect beliefs and attitudes regarding gender. Workshop participants explored how workplace culture is affected by bringing together myriad beliefs and experiences into one agency. The participants discussed strategies and opportunities for developing a more gender-competent workplace.
EnCompass designed and delivered a 2-day retreat focused on strategic planning and team building to support OSDBU staff in defining goals and linking Office operations to the overall mission of USAID. EnCompass conducted a series of individual interviews and focus group sessions, followed by a staff survey/assessment to inform the design of retreat activities.
Post retreat, EnCompass developed a recommendations report including possible follow-on activities to further strategic planning and team building efforts.
Under subcontract to Business Community Synergies, EnCompass designed and facilitated a five-day training course for USAID Education Sector staff in effectively implementing new USAID policies and a new program design cycle. Sessions were interactive and included a simulation, small group strategy huddles, best practice case studies, and an appreciative exploration of participants’ own experiences. The community of practice that followed the course included targeted virtual sessions, as well as custom-design performance support tools.
To help the U.S. Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) strengthen its learning processes, EnCompass identified the competencies and learning objectives required to achieve training and technical assistance outcomes. The EnCompass team mapped competencies to existing courses and identified gaps.
EnCompass provided instructional design support and created materials for this course on compliance and project implementation rules and regulations for USAID implementing partners (IPs). Participating IPs gained a better understanding of USAID’s structure, how to achieve successful audits, and how to improve their business models.
EnCompass delivered a five-day learning activity for the WHO titled “Becoming a Strategic Business Partner and Talent Management.” The workshop was part of the new WHO Global Learning Program designed to improve the developmental needs of the diverse global HR community organization-wide, with a view to preparing HR professionals to better meet the requirements of the changing global human resources function.
EnCompass designed and delivered a workshop for field leaders to strengthen their influence and dialogue skills. EnCompass conducted interviews with key stakeholders and potential participants to inform workshop content, which focused on: balancing inquiry with advocacy; crafting powerful questions; applying influence skills in a variety of situations. Participants discussed real-time situations/cases.
EnCompass supported this agency in an initiative to build the capacity of Program Officers during a transition from being a provider of food aid to a provider of food assistance. The simulations-based program focused on improving leaders’ ability to gather and apply strategic information in order to design quality programming; strengthening their knowledge of program design and implementation; and enhancing their ability to engage with partners to support more effective coordination of assistance.
