Building Strong Training Programs for Oceana Staff

EnCompass worked with Oceana, the largest international advocacy organization focused on ocean conservation, as the DC-based NGO’s learning and development partner. Having experienced enormous growth in the last 3 years, Oceana has 16 offices in North America, Central America, South America, Europe and Asia. Beginning in 2015, EnCompass was hired to work with Oceana leadership to develop a learning and development framework to guide on-boarding of staff and a full year of development for new staff, with the goal of creating a “One Oceana” culture throughout the growing organization. EnCompass was also contracted to develop specific training programs, explore and develop on-line resources for staff, and provide technical assistance to the HR team. With EnCompass’ collaboration, Oceana explored the latest learning technologies including virtual instructor-led training (vILT), e-Learning, spaced learning, job aids, mentoring and coaching, and online learning and collaboration platforms.
