The Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is the primary source of U.S. federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 35,000 museums. IMLS’ mission is to inspire libraries and museums to advance innovation, lifelong learning, and cultural and civic engagement. To achieve its strategic goals, IMLS has created a Strategic Framework that will guide the agency in the next 5 years (2018–2022).
IMLS has hired EnCompass to provide support in monitoring progress against IMLS’ new Strategic Framework. The goal of this process is not only to identify measures that can be tracked (via dashboards) to show performance against strategic goals, but also to revisit the existing monitoring tools and application notices to make sure that future funding is likely to be most impactful. EnCompass is working across the organization to ensure that all staff understand and buy into the framework and understand how day to day activities map to the strategic initiatives.
