EnCompass is working with the Office of Program, Policy, and Management in USAID’s Bureau for Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA) to enhance workforce management and support effective learning. These efforts contribute to organizational change that lies at the heart of USAID’s Transformation, positioning the Agency’s “structure, workforce, programs and processes to effectively advance national security and support host country partners on their journey to self-reliance.” DCHA’s workforce responds to complex crises around the world. Providing responsive and effective management, learning programs, and other supports is crucial to helping these staff succeed in their challenging work.
In the first year of activity, the Learning, Development, and Training (LDT) team assisted with analyzing workforce management and professional development processes, supporting internal communications, and furthering organizational change processes within the bureau. To ensure these processes are efficient and effective, the LDT team has taken a holistic approach to change management, bolstering the strengths of each partner and encouraging information sharing between all parties.
The LDT team also worked with DCHA to update and develop a training course on women, peace, and security. These updates help DCHA and its workforce keep pace with an increasingly complex global development environment by aligning their learning and development with current events and new U.S. government policies.
