EnCompass co-facilitated a skills-based, practical training course providing USAID staff with guidance on implementing the Gender Equality and Female Empowerment Policy, in order to identify best practices and lessons learned in integrating gender considerations across USAID’s Program Cycle. The course is called Operationalizing the USAID Gender Policy and ADS 205. Following the deliveries, EnCompass designed a new course specifically for the Africa region – Training of Trainers: Teaching Gender Integration to USAID Implementing Partners, which was delivered at USAID’s Southern Africa Regional Training Center in Pretoria, South Africa in November 2015.
The goal of the Training of Trainers (TOT) was to strengthen the capacity of USAID Mission gender advisors and points of contact in Africa to engage implementing partners, and to support gender integration in USAID projects as mandated by the USAID’s Gender Equality and Female Empowerment Policy. To achieve the TOT objectives, participants received guidance and tools, and shared strategies to help implementing partners conduct gender analysis and integrate the findings into strategic planning, project design, project deliverables, and monitoring and reporting. The TOT Gender Toolkit, developed alongside the TOT course, contained modules, exercises, examples, and checklists for participants to use with implementing partners to integrate gender into their USAID-funded work.
This work was conducted under the ADVANTAGE IDIQ.
