USAID, The Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program
Since 1984, the DHS has collected and disseminated high-quality data that helps decision makers plan, monitor, and evaluate population, health, and nutrition programs. The DHS has conducted some 260 surveys in over 90 developing countries on infant and child mortality, fertility, maternal health, child immunization, and malnutrition levels. With partner ICF International, EnCompass works to strengthen DHS capacity development through training and on-the-job mentorship to support the survey processes, including field work, data entry, and report writing, and enhanced analyses of DHS data. EnCompass also helps to improve the capacity of journalists, ministries of health and finance officials, local NGO staff, and faith-based organizations to utilize DHS data in support of their work.
