EnCompass delivered a five-day learning activity for the WHO titled “Becoming a Strategic Business Partner and Talent Management.” The workshop was part of the new WHO Global Learning Program designed to improve the developmental needs of the diverse global HR community organization-wide, with a view to preparing HR professionals to better meet the requirements of the changing global human resources function.
EnCompass designed and delivered a workshop for field leaders to strengthen their influence and dialogue skills. EnCompass conducted interviews with key stakeholders and potential participants to inform workshop content, which focused on: balancing inquiry with advocacy; crafting powerful questions; applying influence skills in a variety of situations. Participants discussed real-time situations/cases.
EnCompass supported this agency in an initiative to build the capacity of Program Officers during a transition from being a provider of food aid to a provider of food assistance. The simulations-based program focused on improving leaders’ ability to gather and apply strategic information in order to design quality programming; strengthening their knowledge of program design and implementation; and enhancing their ability to engage with partners to support more effective coordination of assistance.
EnCompass designed and facilitated a 4-day gender training in Bangkok, Thailand, for approximately 20 Gender Advisors and Gender Focal Points from USAID Missions in Central, South and Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. EnCompass also provided the gender-based violence subject matter expert for the training. The purpose of the training was to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to integrate a gender perspective throughout their Missions’ program cycle and assist program managers through gender analysis of project plans.
WHO established a Centre for Tobacco Control in Africa (CTCA), funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to help contain the tobacco epidemic in Africa. EnCompass provided support to WHO in selecting the host organization, Makerere University in Uganda, and assisted the new Centre in articulating a vision, as well as developing its business plan and a robust monitoring and evaluation system.
EnCompass conducted an evaluation for the USIP that assessed the effectiveness of a program to train new South Sudanese diplomats, and to build capacity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to do the training in the future. Data collection in the field included interviews and focus groups with trainers, alumni, and government officials.
This program aimed to strengthen the ability of community groups, NGOs, and the Government of Albania to improve anti-trafficking prevention programs, as well as reintegrate survivors of trafficking and prevent re-trafficking. As a subcontractor to Creative Associates International, Inc., EnCompass designed and facilitated the project launch and three annual conferences with key stakeholders and conducted a participatory evaluation of the work nationwide.
EnCompass provided technical assistance to the Government of Botswana’s Ministry of Education and Skills Development to support the implementation of a curriculum to build life skills for school-going youth. The curriculum, Living Skills for Life: Botswana’s Window of Hope, is part of a major HIV prevention effort that targets every primary and secondary school student in the country.
EnCompass was a subcontractor to John Snow, Inc. for the AIDS Support and Technical Assistance Resources Program Task Order 1 (AIDSTAR-One), a mechanism to implement the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The AIDSTAR-One Project focused on HIV prevention, care, and treatment. EnCompass provided expertise in quality improvement, cost-effectiveness, policy, and gender equality.
As the evaluation and technical assistance partner for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded Global Libraries program, EnCompass helped explore ways in which libraries, as part of multi-sectoral partnerships, could support quick and efficient delivery of sustainable solutions to development challenges.
