As we work toward ending the global HIV epidemic by the year 2030, optimizing the health workforce has never been more important. PEPFAR 3.0 directs investment to target regions and services to achieve epidemic control. Yet, as countries strive to achieve more with less, what activities and approaches will best support and enable increased utilization of the existing health workforce to deliver and sustain quality HIV/AIDS services?
In 2001, UNAIDS was mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to support countries in monitoring progress in the Global AIDS Response and to report back on progress to the General Assembly. Progress has been measured against a set of 2010 and 2015 targets, based on a global monitoring framework which draws on a global indicator set.
EnCompass serves in Gender and Quality Improvement advisor roles for the AIDSFree project, which aims to improve the effectiveness of high-impact, evidence-based HIV interventions, and accelerate the speed with which these interventions are brought to scale at the country-level. EnCompass provides capacity development and technical support to USAID missions, host-country governments, and HIV/AIDS implementers as a subcontractor to John Snow, Inc.

Each month, we present a new topic designed to help health experts in the field better leverage technology for improved project outcomes.
EnCompass is responsible for multiple capacity building activities for the Africa Indoor Residual Spraying (AIRS) II program. Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) is a highly effective tool in reducing malaria transmission. This program is part of the President's Malaria Initiative, which helps 19 host-countries in Africa and one region in Southeast Asia implement IRS programs and assess their effectiveness.
Over the last 15 years, newborn health has garnered increased attention, and individuals, organizations, and communities of organizations have emerged to work on newborn health and survival at both global and country levels. Save the Children’s Saving Newborn Lives (SNL) program commissioned EnCompass LLC to conduct a series of five organizational network analyses (ONA) to gain insight into the current functioning of newborn communities in Bangladesh, Malawi, Nepal, Uganda, and at the global level.
Everyone seems to be talking about “mobile health”, or mHealth, and exalting the power of ICT for health. Somehow, it seems that if we are not incorporating ICT in our health programs today, we have missed the train to successful health outcomes. So, after a three-year wait for USAID’s decision, I find myself as the manager of a newly-won TASC4-ICT for Health umbrella contract, or prequalification, for USAID. EnCompass is the prime contractor, and leads a partnership of superstar organizations that represent ICT excellence.
EnCompass served as an evaluation partner for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation's Maternal Health Accountability Grants in Nigeria as part of its Population and Reproductive Health Programs since 2013.
