EnCompass is pleased to announce a change in leadership, reflecting the organization’s continued growth and development as an innovator and thought leader in the international community. As 2016 begins, Tessie Tzavaras Catsambas is now CEO/CFO, and Sherry Rockey has taken the role of president, after serving as chief operating officer.
The change reflects a new phase of EnCompass’ life as a company with expanding markets, a growing staff and consultant team in more countries than ever, a broadened client base, and exciting new technical challenges.
According to Ms. Catsambas, “This shift in management signifies an organic evolution and growth for EnCompass. Sherry already has an excellent track record as a senior executive here, and I am excited to see her fill the role of president and strengthening the governance of the company in our next phase.”
EnCompass co-founder and long-time president, Ms. Catsambas has a strong leadership role in the international evaluation community. She is co-author of the seminal text on appreciative evaluation, a model she created and has refined over two decades. She served on the board of the International Organization for Cooperation in Evaluation, is active with the American Evaluation Organization, and a focal point for EnCompass’ global partners in this community.
Sherry Rockey has more than 25 years’ experience building and managing international organizations and a programmatic focus on women in international spheres. She has worked with EnCompass for 8 years, serving as COO since 2010. She has also held leadership roles with social change organizations such as Independent Sector, the International Women’s Media Foundation, and the League of Women Voters. As EnCompass’ president, her focus is on keeping the organization structured and resourced to be responsive to partners and clients.
“I want to make sure we operate at the highest standards and continue providing the client service and thought leadership that are the hallmarks of our work,” Ms. Rockey said.
Ms. Catsambas and co-founder Laverne Webb, who retired in 2015, built EnCompass as a deliberately mission- and values-driven organization, emphasizing international innovation, strengths-based approaches and excellence. Ms. Catsambas and Ms. Rockey are committed to sustaining this culture of appreciative, whole-systems thinking as the company grows and changes in the years to come.
