We are thrilled to offer a chance to learn about EnCompass’ gender integration approach in a dynamic session at this week’s Global Health Technical Exchange (GHTechX).
On April 23, EnCompass team members will lead GHTechX attendees in a panel discussion and workshop. The session, “Unlocking the Mystery of Gender Integration – A practical approach for gender transformation in global health projects,” will share experiences from three countries, discuss what makes our approach truly gender transformative, and then guide you in a practical workshopping exercise.
We’re excited to share what makes our approach special for addressing equity gaps and pushing for gender transformation, and we’re honored to bring together a panel of EnCompass gender advisors working on health programming in Ethiopia, Uganda, and Benin. They will share successes, good practice, and challenges with integrating the approach at different stages of the project cycle. The workshopping segment will offer a direct example of how to apply parts of the approach.
We’re offering this session at GHTechX because although gender equality is a critical determinant of health, many implementers struggle with integrating gender considerations in their projects. To help close this gap, the session will feature:
- Practical strategies for integrating gender considerations in health programs
- Lessons and best practice from applying these strategies in varied programming contexts
- Application-focused exercises to help you integrate the approach in your work
The session is scheduled to enable people from many time zones to attend. For those in the eastern United States, we’ll start at 7:15 a.m., so get ready for a gender integration workout to start your day! Because we are EnCompass, with participation as a core value, our session design will keep you engaged and learning with and from other attendees.
We hope to see you this Friday for “Unlocking the Mystery of Gender Integration” and in other sessions at GHTechX, which runs April 21–24. You must register in advance. To do so, visit the GHTechX 2021 page today!
We are grateful to our gender integration experts, as well as our talented team for the Global Health Professional and Organizational Development II (GHPOD II) contract. GHTechX is supported by USAID through GHPOD II, in partnership with the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health and the Global Health: Science and Practice journal.
