EnCompass wishes our partners, clients, and friends a peaceful and joyous 2021. In the video at the bottom of this post, we selected ten stories and resources that we are most proud of developing over the past 12 months. A full list of links is available below; don’t forget to comment and let us know your favorite EnCompass story from 2020!

Michelle DeFayette to Become EnCompass’ New President on July 1
In 2020, EnCompass welcomed President Michelle DeFayette and sent warm wishes to outgoing President Sherry Rockey, who remains on our team as an advisor.

When Virtual Interactions Become a Lifeline: Ideas to Help You Embrace a New Way of Working
The pandemic has affected all of us. Yet even before 2020, our staff were well versed in virtual collaboration. EnCompass was proud to support so many of our clients in adapting to new ways of working.

Moving Learning Online
EnCompass has years of experience moving learning programs and other events to virtual landscapes. In 2020, we produced two videos showcasing the breadth and depth of our expertise in these areas.

Virtual Virtues of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
We also published this timely resource on how virtual monitoring, evaluation, and learning can reduce cost and increase reach in challenging circumstances—or whenever our participants are geographically dispersed.

An Evaluator’s Guide to COVID-19: Using Evaluative Thinking to Learn and Adapt Programs
Continuing evaluation during COVID-19 is critical. With this in mind, our team developed an evaluator’s guide, drawing insights from past pandemics and our decades of experience with remote data collection.

Mapping Outcomes
We published this white paper from Tessie Catsambas and Lynne Franco in late 2019. Then, the world changed. And this guidance for creating evaluation systems to support organizations’ social change work is more important than ever.

COVID-19, Gender Inequality, and Social Exclusion: Where I Enter
EnCompass brings an inclusive lens to all we do. In 2020, we welcomed Dr. Patricia T. Morris as Director of Gender and Inclusive Development. Read her insights in this popular blog series about how COVID-19 has influenced gender equality and social inclusion.

Communicating Recommendations for GBV Prevention and Response
Our gender team continued to deliver excellent analysis and accessible recommendations related to gender-based violence prevention and response. This infographic for USAID’s Transform: Primary Health Care Project in Ethiopia is just one of many examples.

Adaptability and Inclusivity in Education Programs
Our team for the USAID Data and Evidence for Education Programs activity also had a banner year, including just-in-time resources to help education programs adapt during COVID-19 and guidance to support disability-inclusive education.

ELC and EvalYouth Partnership
Our EnCompass Learning Center offered a full roster of professional development courses in learning and evaluation in 2020. As one of EnCompass’ Eval4Action commitments, the ELC partnered with EvalYouth to offer scholarships for young and emerging evaluators such as Ana Erika Lareza.
