EnCompass Lebanon MEL Support Office Named Finalist in the 2024 USAID CLA Case Competition!

Written by: Linda Quamar

We are proud to announce that our USAID Monitoring and Evaluation Program for Lebanon (MEPL) has been named a finalist in the prestigious 2024 USAID Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) Case Competition! This recognition is a testament to the team’s dedication and innovative approach in supporting USAID/Lebanon’s efforts to adapt its strategies in response to Lebanon’s challenging and dynamic operating environment.

Our MEPL team worked closely with USAID/Lebanon to review and adapt its Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) during a time of significant shifts and challenges in the country. Through a comprehensive midcourse stocktaking (MCST) process, the team facilitated engagement with implementing partners and key stakeholders, gathering real-time feedback that directly informed strategic adjustments. This collaborative effort culminated in an inclusive workshop where stakeholders came together to refine and adapt the strategy, ensuring that USAID’s activities could swiftly respond to emerging challenges. The MCST process not only strengthened partnerships and provided an opportunity to reflect and learn, but also promoted quick and data-driven decision-making that is critical in a highly complex context.

Kudos to our MEPL team for their hard work, creativity, and unwavering commitment to advancing adaptive programming in Lebanon!

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the USAID CLA Case Competition, which received a record-breaking 176 submissions from around the globe, with 73 percent coming from first-time participants. With over 800 cases now featured on USAID’s Learning Lab, the competition continues to expand the evidence base for CLA practices. We are honored to have our work recognized as part of this milestone event.

All of this year’s winning and finalist cases, including our Lebanon team’s submission, are now available on the USAID Learning Lab. We invite you to explore how CLA is being applied to advance key priorities such as localization, equity, and resilience in development programming.

A huge thank you to the USAID CLA Case Competition team for this opportunity and to our team and partners in Lebanon for their support. We also extend our congratulations to our fellow finalists and all participants, whose efforts are helping to advance adaptive programming worldwide. We look forward to continued collaboration with USAID to drive innovative and adaptive solutions in the years ahead.

Join us in celebrating this incredible achievement by our Lebanon team!
