EnCompass Expands Work Supporting Human Rights with the U.S. State Department

Written by: EnCompass Staff

EnCompass is delighted to expand our relationship with the U.S. State Department and support their important contributions to human rights around the world. Through two new contracts, we are assisting the State Department with performance management and evaluation services. These roles build on EnCompass’ recent successes with the State Department.

EnCompass—with our partner, Social Impact—has already launched several evaluations under a Blanket Purchase Agreement with the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (J/TIP). In one task under this mechanism, EnCompass is undertaking a complex, multistakeholder evaluation of an initiative aimed at strengthening coordination among governments, civil society, international buyers and retailers, workers and employers, and international agencies in order to combat human trafficking in fisheries and aquaculture in Southeast Asia.

“Human trafficking is a terrible issue that requires a strong and effective response,” said Jonathan Jones, Associate Director of Evaluation and Manager of the J/TIP Blanket Purchase Agreement. “EnCompass feels strongly about the role evaluative thinking and evidence can play in designing programs and adapting along the way, so we are very privileged to offer evaluation support to the meaningful initiatives the J/TIP office and its partners are undertaking.”

This is the first of several activities to support the State Department and international partners in strengthening civilian security, rights, and stability and enforce effective management platforms. The EnCompass team looks forward to applying our expertise to assist these initiatives.
