Evaluation Planning, April 2025

Instructor: Ayesha Boyce

Every evaluation effort, large or small, should start with a plan! Evaluation plans clarify desired outcomes and help ensure stakeholders are on the same page. In this course, participants will learn about the importance of good evaluation planning, what to include in an evaluation plan, and how to use a plan after it’s been developed.

The course is delivered in two virtual instructor-led modules. Classes will take place online via Zoom. Participants who successfully complete both modules will receive certificates of completion at the end of the course. Read more about each of the modules below.

Module 1: Laying out an Evaluation Plan

April 15, 1 p.m.–4 p.m. EDT

Evaluation plans explain what will be evaluated, why it matters, what questions will be asked, how data will be collected, and what reports or products will be produced. In this module, participants will learn about the importance of the evaluation plan, explore the various components involved in the plan, and practice using logic models to articulate an evaluation plan of action.

Module 2: Building an Evaluation Matrix

April 17, 1 p.m.–4 p.m. EDT

A key component of any evaluation plan is the Evaluation Matrix. In this module, participants will learn about evaluation frameworks/matrices and what they entail. Through guided exercises, participants can build evaluation matrices and think about how they tie into evaluation plans overall. By the end of this course, participants will be planning evaluations with confidence!
