The Best of Both Worlds Course Description
Learning to navigate through volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA) has become a critical skill for leaders at all organizational levels. Thinking in polarities—situations in which opposing forces within a system pull at each other to keep things balanced—is a powerful lens and technique to help manage through systems, team, leadership and individual scenarios.
This ELC course uses Polarities System Thinking to help participants leverage the polarity model for complex problem-solving, conflict management, and organizational challenges. Participants will learn the history, dynamics, and distinctions between polarity thinking and other problem- solving approaches, including how polarity thinking can be used in leadership, team building, coaching, and policy work.
In this course, participants will have the opportunity to work through specific polarity challenges they face—in their teams, organizations, political/development systems, or family/interpersonal situations—through the application of mapping with the SMALL (Seeing, Mapping, Assessing, Learning, Leveraging) model. Participants will receive tools and support to create their own polarity maps, which will be reviewed and discussed during the course. They will also receive reference materials for future use.
This course is delivered in one virtual, instructor-led module. Classes will take place online via Adobe Connect or Zoom. Participants who complete the module will each receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course. Please contact us with any questions at email@example.com.
