As part of the program to monitor USAID activities in northern Afghanistan, EnCompass is subcontracting to MSI to provide technical assistance on gender sensitive monitoring and verification tools as well as designing and delivering training to local partners on the USAID gender policy requirements. EnCompass conducted an analysis of implementing partners’ knowledge of USAID policy and conducted a training for staff and data collectors to prepare for gender sensitive monitoring and verification processes.
For the USAID Missions in Pakistan and Afghanistan, EnCompass is providing training and technical support to help integrate USAID gender policy into programs and into all elements of the program cycle. Technical assistance includes conducting gender analysis and incorporating findings of gender analyses into solicitations, as well as project designs, performance management plans, and evaluations.
PROMOTE is USAID’s largest women’s empowerment program in the Agency’s history, aimed at advancing opportunities for Afghan women who can become political, private sector, and civil society leaders. Building upon existing and previous programs for women and girls, Promote is a five-year program targeting the education, promotion, and training of a new generation of Afghan women, aged 18-30.
EnCompass conducted a mid-term evaluation of a three-year, USDA-funded agricultural development program in Afghanistan called Soybeans for Agricultural Renewal in Afghanistan Initiative (SARAI). Working in Kabul, Takhar, and Balkh, the evaluation team gathered data through one-on-one meetings, focus groups, site visits to assess all aspects of this value chain project from monetization procedures to road construction to processing operations to micro-credit and consumer training.
A grantee of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), FEFA is an independent, nonpartisan Institution working to ensure that all democratic processes are implemented transparently through networking, citizen participation, and good governance. EnCompass assessed FEFA's program management, administrative and financial capacities, and offered recommendations for future organizational strengthening. EnCompass used an appreciative evaluation process that included individual stakeholder interviews and group visioning discussions.
EnCompass designed and facilitated an 8-day training for new USAID direct hires and Foreign Service Officers deploying to Afghanistan. In addition to providing the foundational knowledge and skills to effectively fulfill their roles as USAID representatives, this training guided them in completing all pre-deployment logistics.
