Learning and Evaluation Specialist II
Mary Gallagher supports the Generate Results within Our Work (GROW) Activity for USAID’s DRG Center as a Learning and Evaluation Specialist II. She began her career in learning in 2005 as a writing consultant for Syracuse University’s Writing Center and Athletic Department, inspired by her passion for writing and the mechanics of the English language. From 2009–2020, she designed, led, and evaluated instructional programs to advance the knowledge and skills of diverse transfer students at the Universities at Shady Grove. She is passionate about customizing learning experiences to meet learners where they are, based on meaningful analysis and evidence.
Dr. Gallagher has a PhD in Language, Literacy, and Culture from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). For her dissertation, she used a narrative inquiry methodology to study the lived experiences of women of color pursuing a computing degree through vertical transfer. She also holds an MA in Bilingual Education from UMBC and a double BA in Writing and Rhetoric and English and Textual Studies from Syracuse University.
