Regional Gender Officer, Transform: Primary Health Care
Meseret Bejiga Biftu is an Oromia Regional Gender Officer for the USAID Transform: Primary Health Care activity based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She has more than 14 years of experience coordinating gender and health programs with refugees and local communities. Ms. Biftu has worked for government and non-governmental organizations in Benshngul Gumeze, Tigray, and Oromia focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention and gender-based violence response and prevention. She supported the International Rescue Committee’s COMPASS Program for adolescent girls, which created opportunities through mentorship, parental involvement, and safe spaces for girls aged 10-19.
Ms. Biftu has a master’s degree in Project Management from Lead Star University and a bachelor’s degree in Health Education and Behavioral Science from Jimma University. She holds a diploma for clinical nursing from Gonder University.
