Gender Training Specialist II
Fazel Rahim is a gender and human rights expert with over 12 years of programmatic experience. He has extensive expertise in the areas of gender mainstreaming, rights-based approaches, and community development through trainings and field applications. Prior to joining EnCompass, Mr. Rahim held the position of USAID/Afghanistan Gender Advisor, where he served as chief coordinator between USAID and relevant Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan counterparts. He also served as Contracting Officer Representative for USAID's flagship gender equity and women's empowerment Promote project, and helped to ensure projects and activities were in alignment with Mission gender-related strategies and policies.
Mr. Rahim also has experience working in the intergovernmental and NGO sectors through his work with UNDP and War Child UK. During his time there, he served as Program Manager in the fields of gender equality and child protection, and was responsible for strategic planning, policy direction, financial and personnel management, and security management. Mr. Rahim received his M.A. in Management of Development from University of Torino and his B.A. in Law from Herat University. He is fluent in Persian, Pashto, and English.
