
Emily Crego
Associate Director, Business Development Capacity Strengthening
As Associate Director of Business Development, Capacity Strengthening, Emily Crego oversees the new business pipeline across our Learning and Leadership Development and Gender and Inclusive Development portfolios, working across teams to effectively and efficiently mature opportunities from early capture through submission. Ms. Crego also leads efforts across EnCompass to intentionally and purposefully build a business development capacity strengthening program for EnCompass staff—encouraging EnCompass staff to build sustainable business development practices into their work. Ms. Crego has launched virtual and engaging workshops, multiple presentations on engagement and training opportunities, and a suite of resources and tools for staff to access just-in-time knowledge toward their proposal work. Ms. Crego also works to build capacity and mentoring opportunities within the proposal teams she manages. Ms. Crego supports high-level strategy activities throughout EnCompass and leads efforts to track and report on pipeline and business development opportunity data.
Ms. Crego has 17 years of professional experience in government consulting and international development, and an expertise in and passion for new business and proposal development. Prior to her time at EnCompass, she led business development efforts at Resonance across practice areas in inclusive market development, environment, and conflict mitigation/countering violent extremism. Ms. Crego has also worked at Abt Associates, where she focused on new business acquisition for agricultural development, climate change, energy, environment, governance, and performance/impact evaluation projects. She is experienced in the procurement requirements and practices for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Department for International Development (UK) (DFID), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior to her time in the international development sector, Ms. Crego managed climate and energy projects for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Ms. Crego holds a BA in English.
