Amy Johnson

  

Senior Learning Advisor


Amy Johnson is EnCompass’ Senior Learning Advisor, with more than 25 years of experience implementing projects with a particular focus on gender equity and health. She has held leadership positions in federal government, non-profit organizations, and grassroots associations, managing diverse and virtual teams. Ms. Johnson has experience creating and managing complex projects, designing adult learning programs for in-person and online delivery, leading strategic planning retreats, developing creative partnerships, and facilitating capacity building for a wide range of professionals. Prior to joining EnCompass, Ms. Johnson was a consultant focusing on project implementation and business development for U.S. Government, UN System, and foundation-funded programs. Her work included supporting start-up of a USAID project; developing curricula on organizational strengthening; writing reports on gender empowerment, gender-based violence, and the Sustainable Development Goals; and technical proposal writing for gender equality, evaluation, leadership, and nutrition/food security activities. She previously served as Chief of Programming & Training for the Inter-America & Pacific Region at Peace Corps where she led programming, training, and evaluation management strategy for 20 overseas posts. Earlier, Ms. Johnson led fundraising and programming for the International Women’s Media Foundation, and designed professional development training for USAID-funded programs. Ms. Johnson also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer supporting leadership at YWCA Belize to strengthen their operations and programming.

Ms. Johnson holds a Master’s degree in Intercultural Communication from the University of Pennsylvania, a BA in Political Science from the University of Delaware, and a graduate certificate in Global Nutrition Programming from the Freidman School of Nutrition Science & Policy at Tufts University.
