Senior Capacity Building Advisor, DHS
Abibata Handley is the EnCompass Senior Capacity Building Advisor for DHS. She is a master trainer with 17 years’ experience in capacity building and training, program design, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation. Ms. Handley has extensive knowledge of the principles of adult learning theories, including participatory methods. She has designed curricula in health and education and planned and conducted training of trainers’ activities using interactive training methodology. These methods were featured in her work with the Peace Corps where she developed pre-service and in-service curriculum, including macro and micro designs of technical sessions. She has experience teaching e-learning and online collaboration tools to adults and extensive knowledge of USAID policies and procedures. She also has experience working with development organizations in the United States and Africa including Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Kenya and Uganda. Ms. Handley holds a Master’s Degree in International Development and Intercultural Training from Lesley University. She speaks French, English, Dioula, Moore, and Bambara.
