As a subcontractor to Social Impact, EnCompass is supporting activities to integrate gender issues into design, planning, implementation, and evaluation of Mission activities. Support has included developing gender resources -- a gender compliance toolkit, “How To” Guides for USAID staff and implementing partners on how to use the toolkit, a gender compliance training for USAID staff and implementing partners, and a gender guide for agriculture value chain. EnCompass provides regular gender reviews of evaluation plans and tools for Mission programs and implementing partner projects.

EnCompass facilitated a culture change initiative for the senior management team to strengthen collaboration, learning and growth, and to retain high caliber people. Using a strengths-based approach, learning processes in this initiative focused on shared goals, communications, teamwork, and developing high-performance practices and accountability mechanisms for greater impact.

EnCompass designed and delivered a 2-day retreat focused on strategic planning and team building to support OSDBU staff in defining goals and link Office operations to the overall mission of USAID. EnCompass conducted a series of individual interviews and focus group sessions and implemented a staff survey/assessment to inform the design of retreat activities.  Post retreat, EnCompass developed a recommendations report including possible follow-on activities to further strategic planning and team building efforts.

In 2010, EnCompass designed and facilitated an off-site retreat for the mission staff which focused on effective management practices, teamwork, administrative streamlining, program processes, and communications. In advance of the retreat, EnCompass conducted an online staff survey and group and individual interviews with stakeholders and participants to inform the design.  

EnCompass also led a staff retreat in 2013 to forge consensus around a new strategic direction, engage staff in implementing operational changes, and prepare action plans. Training design was based on data collected via an online survey and through interviews. To support the Mission in moving forward EnCompass provided coaching to key staff and teams over a 6-month period.

EnCompass designed and facilitated a two-day all staff retreat for the staff at the USAID/Armenia Mission. The goal was to forge consensus around a new strategic direction, engage in implementing operational changes, and prepare action plans. Retreat design was based on results of an online survey and individual interviews. After the retreat, EnCompass provided a summary report and follow-on coaching to key staff and teams over a 6-month period.

Project Date: 2010-2011

EnCompass delivered a five-day learning activity for the WHO titled “Becoming a Strategic Business Partner and Talent Management.” The workshop was part of the new WHO Global Learning Program designed to improve the developmental needs of the diverse global HR community organization-wide, with a view to preparing HR professionals to better meet the requirements of the changing global human resources function.

Project Date: 2011

EnCompass facilitated a three-day all staff strategic planning and team building training for 90 USAID staff based in Tbilisi. The focus of the retreat was two-fold: strategic planning for the Country Development Cooperation Strategy CDCS process, and second, optimizing the leadership transition and team-building activities. The project included a pre-training assessment through online survey and interviews. Post facilitation, EnCompass provided a report that included an action plan and for recommendations for the Mission.

Project Date: 2011

EnCompass led a change management consultation to support implementation of a five- year project addressing the challenges of providing logistical, administrative and information and communications to field missions around the world. EnCompass helped implement recommendations on restructuring for better efficiencies, facilitate work planning processes, and develop a communications strategy to address staff morale and resistance to restructuring.

EnCompass worked with the newly formed IDEA to integrate teams from previously six separate offices.  A one-day retreat followed a survey, interviews with the senior leadership team, and focus groups to help launch the new Office. EnCompass also offered recommendations for managing culture change as the Office grows and implements its mission.
