Under a five-year contract with USAID, EnCompass manages the Global Health Professional and Organizational Development (GHPOD) II program. GHPOD’s role is to provide professional and organizational development support to USAID’s health sector staff around the world to build their capacity to lead and manage health programs. Through the GHPOD mechanism, EnCompass provides a variety of training and learning programs to build capacity in technical areas, program management, leadership, personal and team effectiveness, retreats and strategic meetings, and staff performance management. Each year GHPOD II designs and delivers as many as 45 professional development programs and 50 OD interventions, and provides coaching to about 60 USAID global health professionals.

EnCompass designed and delivered a program that included two interactive face-to-face workshops with individual coaching and action learning activities between sessions, and engagement in an ongoing community of practice. The program targeted the development of General Services and Administrative staff in core management skills outlined in the UN Competency Framework.

Through this five-year blanket purchase agreement, EnCompass is supporting the Foreign Service Institute’s Leadership and Management School in its efforts to develop career leaders and managers in the Department of State and the larger foreign affairs community and offer mandated leadership training for mid through senior grade levels. EnCompass delivers leadership development courses on a variety of topics, consulting and organizational development services, and curriculum design, assessment and evaluation support.

Project Date: 2013-2015

EnCompass designed and delivered a blended leadership development training, mandatory for new supervisors at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Cohorts of 25 participants were engaged in eight, one-day, face-to-face workshops and a series of e-Learning modules. A Moodle-based portal was utilized for sharing program information,  and for participants to meet and engage in virtual learning sessions.

EnCompass co-facilitates two 3-day modules delivered over a 3-month period with Daimler AG to cultivate a leadership mindset with new managers. The philosophy of this leadership program is based on systems theory and incorporates three phases: learning about leading self, leading others, and leading the business. EnCompass co-facilitates an average of 12 cohorts of 15-20 participants each year, and also provides executive coaching to senior leaders supporting targeted development and performance goals.  The program is delivered in North America, China, Singapore, Japan, and Brazil.

EnCompass designed and delivered the Leadership Development Program for USAID’s Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA). The blended program focused on leadership in volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environments, for mid- and senior-level managers and supervisors. The program was delivered through two, multi-day face-to-face workshops, in-person coaching, and intersession collaboration and action learning practicums. The workshops featured simulations that mirror the fluid, rapidly evolving and transitional work environment within which DCHA personnel operate. Topics of these workshops included: appreciative leadership, systems thinking, communication, collaboration, leading change, teambuilding, and leadership styles.

EnCompass designed a two-module, four-month blended Management Development Program that emphasized a strengths-based management approach for this United Nations (UN) Agency.  The participants benefitted from on-line collaboration tools, individual coaching, face to face modules, on-line and paper resources, application activities, and peer coaching opportunities. The program educated participants on how to manage themselves and their teams more effectively.

To help the U.S. Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) strengthen its learning processes, EnCompass identified the competencies and learning objectives required to achieve training and technical assistance outcomes. The EnCompass team mapped competencies to existing courses and identified gaps. In producing a logic model documenting the courses that aligned with each competency, learning objective, outcome and learning goal, the team conducted interviews with relevant staff, completed a review of all courses for six CNCS national program areas, and provided recommendations for addressing gaps in the training portfolio.

EnCompass has designed and delivered four different global management and leadership development programs within a major organization of the United Nations (UN) in a variety of locations including New York, Geneva, Vienna, Santiago, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Beirut, and Bangkok. These mandatory programs are delivered to 400-500 senior leaders and managers each year. The programs include multiple classroom modules, 360 assessments, individual coaching to integrate learning.

In 2012, this agency was presented with the Prism Award from the International Coach Federation (IFC) for the use and impact of coaching. According to an evaluation conducted by the ROI Institute, the MDP has had significant measurable impact on job effectiveness, and there has been an 87.6% return on investment...

EnCompass delivered a management learning program (MLP) for a major United Nations (UN) agency that provides services to global locations in the field. Each 12-month MLP was designed to support 30 mid-level managers and includes a 360 assessment, self-study modules, individual coaching, peer learning groups, and a final five-day workshop delivered in Switzerland, Tanzania, and Hungary. An EnCompass team of coaches and facilitators provide individual and group coaching and classroom learning.

In 2012 EnCompass redesigned key components of this program from hard copy to e-learning modules. The e-learning modules include an updated curriculum, exercises for application with immediate feedback, and an assessment of learning in progress.
