The USAID English Writing Proficiency Course is offered to improve the quality of the American English writing skills of Foreign Service Nationals whose primary language is not English. The focus is on experiential learning with hands-on individual and group writing exercises that are tied to USAID assignments and work situations. EnCompass offers this course in a basic and advanced version. Both workshops are 5-days are offered through EnCompass’ GSA Schedule – MOBIS and can be customized for different client systems. EnCompass also delivered a three-day executive writing course to USAID Washington from 2009-2012.

Project Date: 2006-2020

EnCompass designs and implements human resource and performance management training for USAID in support of the Human Capital and Talent Management office. EnCompass designs and facilitates workshops, delivers proprietary and customized training, and facilitates a variety of staff developmental activities. In 2016, EnCompass is addressing a range of staff performance management needs and is developing a suite of six mandatory courses for all USAID supervisors.  Among the standard courses EnCompass implements are:

Through the ADVANTAGE IDIQ, EnCompass was engaged by USAID to design a course on how to integrate GBV into USAID programming activities. The course, Integrating Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response across Sectors, is a blended program that engages participants at intervals over a 4-month period. The training includes virtual and face-to-face components, as well as practicum activities and a mentoring program. Through the ADVANTAGE IDIQ, EnCompass was engaged by USAID to redesign its staff training course on USAID gender policy and how to integrate gender into development programming. For the USAID Missions in Pakistan and Afghanistan, EnCompass is providing training and technical support to help integrate USAID gender policy into programs and into all elements of the program cycle. Technical assistance includes conducting gender analysis and incorporating findings of gender analyses into solicitations, as well as project designs, performance management plans, and evaluations. ADVANTAGE partner MSI is a subcontractor on this project.

As part of the program to monitor USAID activities in northern Afghanistan, EnCompass is subcontracting to MSI to provide technical assistance on gender sensitive monitoring and verification tools as well as designing and delivering training to local partners on the USAID gender policy requirements. We conducted an analysis of implementing partners’ knowledge of USAID policy and conducted a training for staff and data collectors to prepare for gender sensitive monitoring and verification processes.

EnCompass supported this agency in an initiative to build the capacity of Program Officers during a transition from being a provider of food aid to a provider of food assistance. The simulations-based program focused on improving leaders’ ability to gather and apply strategic information in order to design quality programming; strengthening their knowledge of program design and implementation; and, enhancing their ability to engage with partners to support more effective coordination of assistance.

EnCompass is designed and delivered a blended leadership development training, mandatory for new supervisors at PTO. Cohorts of 25 participants were engaged in eight, one-day, face-to-face workshops and a series of eLearning modules. PC Volunteer with children teaching agriculture practices

EnCompass supported the Peace Corp’s Food Security Program to revise a series of 18 training manuals on community agricultural practices that provide sustainable, adequate nutrition. PC Volunteers will use these manuals in the field as part of its engagement with the Feed the Future Initiative. EnCompass updated the technical content and presentation layout of the manuals to ensure ease and accuracy of use.
