In the Spring of 2013, EnCompass designed and facilitated a two-day all staff retreat for the 42 staff at the USAID/Armenia Mission.

The focus of the retreat was to: forge consensus around the Mission’s new strategic direction, engage staff in implementing upcoming changes in Mission operations in light of a new five-year strategy, expose staff to team-building techniques, and prepare action plans for task forces formed around key issues. EnCompass Program Manager Sharon Bean recently spoke on the situation in Mali as part of a roundtable discussion for the Africa Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS). The on-the-record event examined the actors and drivers of instability in northern Mali and the requirements for stabilizing this territory beyond the near-term military intervention. The roundtable, attended by more than 200 people in Washington, D.C., sought to highlight the complexity of the stabilization challenge in northern Mali.

Jonathan Jones, Evaluation Specialist, and EnCompass consultant Ana Maria Garcia Femenia, worked with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's Global Libraries staff to co-facilitate a proposal development workshop in November at the foundation’s Seattle headquarters. Jonathan and Ana led teams from Costa Rica and Jamaica in developing vision statements and results frameworks, key components in the countries’ evaluation plans.

Jonathan Jones, Evaluation Specialist, recently traveled to South Sudan to conduct fieldwork for an evaluation of a program that is seeking to build the capacity of diplomats and staff at the South Sudan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

South Sudan has faced many challenges since becoming independent in July 2011. One of which is to staff new South Sudan embassies with people who are capable of effectively representing the interests of their country. The EnCompass Training Center is conveniently located at 1920 L Street, NW -- one block from the Orange Line Metro station and two blocks from the Red Line Metro station. There is parking in the building and several parking lots within a block’s radius.

Meeting space is available during regular business hours – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday (except holidays).
