The Global Health Mini-University has been bringing together students and professionals in global health for over 15 years. It is a free, one-day forum about a variety of technical topics held annually in Washington, D.C., supported by USAID’s Global Health Bureau and the George Washington University’s (GWU) Milken Institute School of Public Health. EnCompass is excited to announce we have established a presence in Ethiopia, where we are part of a consortium project led by Pathfinder International tasked with implementing USAID’s Transform: Primary Health Care project.

Our six-member team is based in Addis Ababa and four regions:

  • Amhara
  • Oromia,
  • Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region
  • Tigray

This will be EnCompass’ largest field presence to date.

From April 26th through the 28th, EvalPartners Third Global Evaluation Forum (GF3) was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. This year’s theme was: “Transforming our world through evaluation: engagement and partnerships for the better world we want”, with a special focus on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The forum reflected on the three pillars of the EvalAgenda 2020, which are:

  1. Enhancing the individual capacity of evaluations
  2. Enhancing the institutional capacity toward evaluation
  3. Enabling a positive environment for evaluation.

Two of EnCompass’ ground-breaking evaluations were featured at the 8th annual African Evaluation Association (AfrEA) International Conference.  The conference wase held March 27th- 31st in Kampala, Uganda, with the theme “Evaluation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Opportunities and Challenges for Africa”.

EnCompass Evaluation Specialist Kelsey Simmons presented abstracts from these evaluations at the AfrEA conference. The first details the MacArthur Foundation’s M&E strategy for their Maternal Health Accountability Portfolio which includes seven civil society organizations working across Nigeria.
