EnCompass provided organizational, logistics, facilitation, and reporting services on behalf of the U.S. Department of Labor’s initiatives to eliminate the worst forms of child labor around the world. Over the course of several contracts, EnCompass has provided the following services:
EnCompass conducted a mid-term evaluation of a three-year, USDA-funded agricultural development program in Afghanistan called Soybeans for Agricultural Renewal in Afghanistan Initiative (SARAI). Working in Kabul, Takhar, and Balkh, the evaluation team gathered data through one-on-one meetings, focus groups, site visits to assess all aspects of this value chain project from monetization procedures to road construction to processing operations to micro-credit and consumer training.
EnCompass conducted an evaluation of this community development initiative, which pulls together the intellectual capital of the private sector through skills-based volunteer engagements to increase the scale, sustainability, and impact of microfinance and technology solutions to alleviate poverty. The objective of the evaluation was for the Foundation to learn from its past efforts and to help it restructure the program strategy moving forward.
As the evaluation and technical assistance partner for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded Global Libraries program, EnCompass helped explore ways in which libraries, as part of multi-sectoral partnerships, could support quick and efficient delivery of sustainable solutions to development challenges.
EnCompass developed three classroom-based training modules on the topic of Youth Livelihoods, focused on Financial Education, Employability, and Entrepreneurship. These modules, comprised of 40 training hours each, helped the Peace Corps provide youth with practical skills development to improve their opportunities in the world of work.
