EnCompass is proud to have been named one of the best workplaces in the Washington, D.C., area. What makes us a Top Workplace? Over the next few months, we’ll feature insights on this topic from a few members of the “EnCompass family.”
We begin with Beeta Tahmassebi—EnCompass’ very first intern in 1999. Her story shows how our careers can follow our lives, especially when we have an employer that supports us through different phases.
“At EnCompass, we help people thrive in ways that meet their needs at the time. For me, when my kids were very young, thriving meant working less. At other times, when a great work opportunity came my way, I found myself working around the clock to take on not only my existing commitments, but the new opportunity I did not want to slip away. I have made different choices at different times, and each choice has contributed to who I am today.”
Today, Beeta is Director of Strategic Initiatives at EnCompass, a role that includes providing leadership for The Evaluators’ Institute. Her road to this point has been rich and varied. She has been an evaluator, a researcher, a project manager, a knowledge management specialist, and an operations manager—and she continues to grow and innovate as one of the company’s leaders.
Her secret to so many opportunities? She emphasizes the enthusiasm factor: “Be open to going above and beyond. Get out of your comfort zone … take a risk … embrace the challenge.” And for those considering a career here, Beeta says, “EnCompass is the right place for people who are passionate about their work and have a commitment to their clients and their colleagues.”
