Yonas Terefe is a Regional Gender Officer for USAID’s Transform: Primary Health Care project in Amhara, Ethiopia. In this role, he works to integrate gender into the health sector, conducting gender analyses and assessments and providing technical guidance and support on key gender issues in the region. Mr. Terefe has 11 years of experience in the NGO and private sector. Prior to joining EnCompass, he worked on a community based reproductive health project aimed at improving contraceptive access for rural women. His past project experience includes gender-based violence prevention and response, HIV/AIDS, women’s economic empowerment, and maternal and reproductive health.
Mr. Terefe holds a master’s degree in Population Studies/Reproductive Health from Addis Ababa University.
