Janina Acevedo-Yates supports EnCompass’ Learning and Leadership Development team by providing programmatic and operational support. Prior to joining EnCompass, Mrs. Acevedo-Yates facilitated projects in Washington, D.C. as well as throughout Latin America, focusing primarily on youth development, leadership, and gender-based violence prevention. Mrs. Acevedo-Yates spent three years in Botswana as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer working with clinics and local organizations to enhance HIV prevention education. She also worked as a Youth Outreach Coordinator in El Salvador, recruiting youth to join music programs aiming to eliminate gangs and delinquency.
Mrs. Acevedo-Yates holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American Studies and Political Science from the University of Arizona and a Master of Arts degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University's School of International Service
